My husband & I are going to Jamaica for our anniversary this year. When we went last year for our honeymoon, we flew Air Jamaica first-class. Well, we were supposed to fly first-class. Our flight ended up being chartered by Ryan Air who did not have a first-class section. No big deal since we were treated like first-class passengers (got to board the plane first, sit in the front, etc.). We also got reimbursed from Air Jamaica for the difference between first-class and coach. They also gave us vouchers for a free first-class upgrade the next time we fly.
So here it is a year later, time to redeem our vouchers. I booked our airfare and purchased our economy seats. I then called up Air Jamaica to request that they upgrade us…
Turns out there is no available first class seats open on either of our flights. We are flying first-class standby so if something does become available we can have them.
So now I am petrified. I HATE flying as it is. The only way I can fly is with a whole lot of Valium and my butt seated comfortably in those cushy first-class seats where they serve you complementary champagne. I am so afraid of freaking out at the airport. I have already begun visualizing the worst.
