I normally fill the lulls in my day by reading Gawker (say what you will). Anyhow, I stumble on this article today and it blows my mind. Not really the content so much as the “marketing” of it. Please, allow me to explain.
A writer from New York Magazine (not to be confused with The New Yorker, as they are clearly in two separate classes) sent around a mass email looking for some New Yorkers (people who live in NY, not the magazine) to contribute to her upcoming article about people who dress in only one color all the time. Specifically, she is looking for people who like the color green (hence the leprechaun reference in the heading).
So now here’s what bothers me. She is a writer. A professional writer. She writes for a big-time, widely distributed magazine (albeit not as big as The New Yorker) and she cannot formulate an email using proper capitalization! No really, look at it. All the “i’s” are lowercase. The name of the publication in the subject line of the email is lowercase. Her own name is lowercase.
In closing, I would like to offer my writing skills (which include, but are not limited to proper capitalization) to New York Magazine effective immediately.
